End of year reflection

This year i think i have improved so much. I learn so much skills to help me to go Forward. I have got so much more confidence from speeches. I have meet some class mates to work with. I think I am going to be a great leader next year. 

CAMP

Pompallier  school year 5,6,7, and 8 went on camp out rarawa campground. It was a fun 3 night and four day. One night the rain was so heavy that there was thunder and lightning.  

                 5 highlights about camp...

1.  was playing ruby with the year 7 and 8 boys
2.  other highlight was the amazing foods
3.  going to the beach is a highlight too
4.  The amazing races 
5. and the last highlight was setting up the tent         

surfing

At pompallier school the year 6,7 and 8 went surfing. The surfing was so much fun. The surf coaches ''said every time you hope on a surf board you have to do the shaka. I caught a lot of waves so i had to do i lot of shaka's. The coaches taught us the fastest way to get up and what was dangerous.

Advent

                              Advent 

In kakapo we are learning about Advent. We  learnt  that Advent is the first season of the churches  year. The symbol  of Advent is a wreath with 4 candles one purple and three pink and it should  look like this↓  

one new poem

In kakapo class we learnt how to use personification in poetry. I really like this type of poem because all you need to do is say some thing that a thing would do like a person .For example the car complained as the key was turned, so complain is the word that a person would do.

In kakapo class in our literacy contracts its says to have a go at making a poem about any topic you like. lucky Mrs Cutter had a workshop about it because  had no experience yet ! about poem writing. In the workshop Mrs Cutter taught me a lot of new thing like not all poems rhymes, pomes are a way to express your feelings and did you know that a haiku is a type of poem.Mrs Cutter ''said to make a haiku about summer.

Google doc ninja challenge

In Kakapo Whaea Donna comes in every Thursday and teaches us new things to do with our devices but this time Whaea Donna ''said that we are going to do the google doc ninja challenge. You first heard about this challenge when you saw it on buddy class room 4 Matawai school.'' Whaea Donna said that we had to do this task in a hour. I was thinking ''no way!'' I could finish in an hour but I did and I was very proud that I did finish this task in a hour. I learned so much new shortcuts and tricks that i can use now.

In week 2 on Friday it was the colour run. the colour run was a fun activity that a lot of school attended . The colour run was 5 km and there were 5 colour station purple,yellow,orange,red,pink and one water station. Then i finish my friends tip water all over me. At the end my white t-shire was covered with colours.

                 Special places in the far north



Over the year In kakapo class  we have been learning about New Zealand history and local history but this term we are learning about Fiordland. We are learning about Fiordland because Mrs Cutler has started reading a cool survival book call Cuz. Mrs Cutler is putting this book teach me that that we have so much amazing scenery in NZ but I think that the far north is special because Far North has stunning beaches to explore or go to Waitangi to look at the amazing artifacts at the Museum. My favourite place to go is the Cape Reinga because its amazing to see the place where the two seas meet - yes you can really see it! It is a special place because you can really feel the wairua.

This term the year 5,6,7, and 8 are going on camp. we have a lot of fun activities like surfing,beach clean and hiking and a lot more. the learning is to work with other step out of your comfort zone and learn new things. I like camp the most because everyone gets a long and works together.  Another thing we do On camp is survival things like planning our own snacks and dinner and setting up our own tents. These survival thing that we do will assist us when we are older and the cool thing is that are camp is close this year so it ties up with are local history learning that we have been doing.  Another thing is our sustainability that their is so much plastic that is produced each year is so so so so much.     

TERM 3

                 THE BEST TERM YET

        I think that this term has been a blast.I think that my writing has gone up. My maths/ basic facts has gone up too. I am getting in the 80 to 90 in basic facts. I love this program this term it was call #represent this program boast my leadership skill by so much. I love all the sport things that we did they were so much fun. I think this term has been success.

My cool Article.

IN kakapo class today we are learning about how to make a news paper Article.It mused have a headline the headline is the title it need to be catchy and hook the reader in without giving away too much information.Then you need a lead paragraph this is the first paragraph of the report it must have the four ws. who- what- when- where. Now the body of the article the body is a "quote" a quote is any additional information the reader may need to know. The byline is the name of the writer/reporter the person who writes the article.

Little Red Robin Hood comes to Pompallier.

At Pompallier school st Joseph church 3 actors from NZ
playhouse performed a show called little red robin hood.

The show has a very strong message about to sharing and to
be kind .A 10 year old student Mitchell wells said “the show
was not funny but still cool.”

Nz playhouse will continue their show in Australia.

Best program ever

The best program ever. I love this program its all about represent family,your self ,your school, your community and new Zealand. I am' privileged to be chosen with 4 other. we get challenges each week to do. I feel like that this program has boost my confidence and my leadership skill.The teacher are very very nice.The program is called # represent.

In Kakapo class we made bread this was learning a little bit about history and a little bit of cooking to. It was a fun learning activity that we did in groups of 4.AS it was fun we learning a lot of different stuff to.

This week in Kakapo class  we were learning about Sandra Silberzweig the artist.

The whole class drew a painting trying to be like her. Her drawings are abstract.We had to use lots and lots of pattern. She is a very creative artist. Her abstract paintings look so amazing.    

Today in kakapo class we got given a work sheet that was about literacy...

the worksheet in same part of the work sheet was so hard but other part were to easy.the success criteria was to highlight thing's that you don't understand yet! and mark with a buddy.  

Matraiki

Today in kakapo class we were learning about matraiki and all the storys about it with whaea Ali.we got given a piece of string and we made the 9 matraiki star. Waea Ali told us a story about matraiki it was very insting .we had lots of fun and made kawakawa balm.and this is what it turned out like.

We had to think about the learning the we did over the term.Then we had to think about what we create with the learning .Then we had to think about how we share it. Compehnsion

  Today in kakpo class in our contract we had compehnsion. The compehnsion was about Antarctica. we had to read the article and answer all the questions using full sentence!!. The questions were not easy we had to think really hard.we were practicing finding information and reading to understand.
